He did it, he did it! SERE is over and we both made it through. I was overjoyed when it finally ended. The three weeks that Kevin was gone was difficult and stressful. The second that I was able to hold my husband close again was a wonderful moment; I held him and did not let go. He had spent three weeks in training unable to speak with anyone; no letters, phone calls, email…nothing! But we both learned very important things from the experience. I am more than relieved that it is over.
While Kevin Was Gone I Kept Myself Busy…Teaching, Dancing, Zumba, CrossFit, and Decorating!
I have been doing a tremendous amount of teaching at the Enterprise and Dothan School of Dance. The first week was a little difficult, but now eight weeks in I have found the flow of the class! The little ballerinas are understanding all of the basic movements and concepts of dance and they are having fun! They are so eager to come and learn every week and I look forward to working with the girls every week too!
I have also had the opportunity to work with the older girls, I have been teaching them classical ballet variations from different classical ballets. Couple weeks ago I taught them two ballet variations from the ballet, Sleeping Beauty. And I have been doing a lot of dancing myself. I am back into shape and I am so happy to be on my toes again. My feet are starting to blister and bleed, and I don’t mind one bit…it means I am working hard and doing what I love again. I am going to continue dancing in hopes that I may be able to do some free-lance work, not as a career…just for fun!
I continue to CrossFit and Zumba as well. I will be doing plenty of events in the next month. I have also been busy helping my friend get ready for her wedding. It is my first time being a bridesmaid and I am so excited that she is getting married to her best friend. It has been so much fun helping her, and I cannot wait for the wedding!
I also did a great deal of arts and crafts projects to spruce up the home. I made some bright green vases for the kitchen. I have been trying to add pops of color to the home. I spent lots of time cleaning and reorganizing as well. I spent a whole week planning his welcome home…I made a poster, baked brownies, baked cookies, and picked up some goodies just for him!
But Now He Is Back…..
Since Kevin has been back we have been spending time relaxing and spending time together. We went to Florida and Georgia on some fun day trips! Kevin decided he wanted to trade in his sports bike for a more comfortable ride. We decided to get a new motorcycle which we are planning on using a lot. I cannot wait to take the bike on some fun adventures!(Kevin is really happy!) Since it is fall, I am planning some fun fall adventures for the both of us!
Next week, Kevin will begin Primary (this is where the fun begins!) Why, you might ask…HE WILL FINALLY START FLYING!!!!!!! The moment we have been waiting for is finally upon us; I am so excited for him! Primary should not last more than 22 weeks, and after Primary we will go to selection. (more on that when the time comes!) We are estimation that in a year from now we will probably (hopefully) be at our next duty station. Kevin has done so much already, I am so proud of him!
That’s where we are at right now…we are looking forward to the next part of our Flight School Journey!
